A sustainability pilot project in Peter-McGill
In a dense, urban neighbourhood like ours, we sometimes need to be creative and take advantages of opportunities that sometimes look impossible! This dreary alley was transformed using the most urban material: concrete blocks! The giant new planter box used the blocks to create a deep and solid space to grow perennials and shrubs! Come visit the Towers alley (located between rue St-Catherine W. and de Maisonneuve W Blvd, just west of Towers street).

A sustainability pilot project in Peter-McGill
Keep your ears open and your eyes peeled on the Quartier 21 block located between St-Marc St, St-Mathieu St, St-Catherine St and De Maisonneuve Blvd. Construction began in August and the brand new curb bulges will be planted soon! By the end of the year, many initiatives will be completed with the goal of reducing the heat island effect in this dense neighbourhood. Look out for newly planted tree boxes, a permeable alley and new bike racks! Help us catalyst the change by talking about this projects with your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours!

2 Green Alleyways in Montréal's Downtown Core
Éco-quartier Peter-McGill is one of the finalists to win funding from Shell's environmental foundation ''Fuelling Change''! Now we need your help to transform two downtown alleys into green spaces (which can be found on the corners of : Rue Saint-Catherine / Blvd De Maisonneuve and Rues Towers and Du Fort & Rue Lincoln / Blvd De Maisonneuve and Rues Du Fort / Chomedey)!
One of the goals of this project is to neutralize CO2 emissions and reduce the urban heat island effect by planting trees, bushes, and perennials which will be preferably indigenous. Another is to improve the security and cleanliness of the alleyways by increasing positive circulation and the sentiment of belonging in the neighbourhood. This project will also mobilize and raise awareness in the area`s residents which will result in improving their quality of life.
Please help us make this wonderful, sustainable project a reality by registering and voting for us by clicking here!
